Holliston is a quiet bedroom community with strong citizen involvement and a well funded school system. It's one of only a handful of towns in the state that offers an award-winning French immersion program. This quintessential New England town is dotted with lovely historic homes, quaint churches, and family-run businesses. Residents can stroll to the town center to enjoy a small playground, public tennis courts, candy and crafts at Fiske’s General Store, a coffee or local music at Pejamajos Cafe, view exhibits at the Holliston Mill Studios, or a shopping excursion at the local boutiques.

The town is close to major highways, including Routes 16 and the Mass Pike (Rt 90), as well as two Commuter Rail stations in nearby Ashland and Framingham, making it a popular home for Boston area professionals.

Holliston residents participate in many social clubs, including a garden club, newcomers club, conservation group, historical society, the Toastmasters Club, Washington Street Players, parent-teacher-student association, plus hockey, baseball/softball, and soccer associations. The town is also home to Pinecrest Golf Club.

Houses of worship in town include Christ the King Lutheran Church, First Baptist Church, Fatima Shrine, St. Mary's Church (Roman Catholic), First Congregational Church, St. Michael's Episcopal Church, Unitarian Universalist Church, Grace United Methodist Church, and Temple Beth Torah.
