Wayland is a semi-rural community with few commercial or industrial sites. This peaceful bedroom community boasts a highly regarded school system, easy access to lots of shopping and restaurants, and many opportunities for passive recreation at surrounding forests, fields, and the Sudbury River. The Wayland public school system is regularly ranked as one of the top ten school systems in the state.

Old stone walls, open fields, and several ponds mark Wayland’s landscape. Residents have access to two public golf courses, swimming and boating at Lake Cochituate, well maintained basketball courts, ten tennis courts, ice skating areas, a swimming pool, and several playgrounds. The town is bordered by Natick, which boasts a large upscale mall and an abundance of retail stores and restaurants.

The town is close to major highways, including Routes 9, 495, 95/128, and the Mass Pike (Rt 90), making it a popular home for Boston area professionals.

Wayland residents participate in many social and sports clubs, including a swim team; baseball, soccer, and basketball associations, Wayland Children and Parent’s Association, Wayland Historical Society, Wayland Women’s Softball League, Wayland High Boosters Association, and Broomstones Curling Club. Houses of worship in town include the Celebration International Church, Community United Methodist Church, Congregation Or Atid, Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, Islamic Center, Peace Lutheran Church, Saint Ann’s Parish (Roman Catholic), Saint Zepherin’s Parish (Roman Catholic), Temple Shir Tikva, Trinitarian Congregational Church, and the Unitarian Universalist Church.
